Website visitors

Like most website operators, Bariatric News collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Bariatric News’ purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Bariatric News’ visitors use its website. From time to time, Bariatric News may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website. Bariatric News also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for logged in users and for users leaving comments on articles. Certain visitors to Bariatric News’ websites choose to interact with Bariatric News in ways that require Bariatric News to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that Bariatric News gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who sign up for a user account at bariatricnews.net to provide a username and email address. Protection of certain personal information

Bariatric News discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on Bariatric News’ behalf or to provide services available at Bariatric News’ websites, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Bariatric News offers a newsletter subscription service, which we use to keep you updated about news that appears on the site. Every email we send contains an “unsubscribe” link which allows you to remove your email address from the subscription service.

Cookies

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. Bariatric News uses cookies to help Bariatric News identify and track visitors, their usage of Bariatric News website, and their website access preferences. Ads

Ads appearing on any of our websites may be delivered to users by advertising partners, who may set cookies. These cookies allow the ad server to recognize your computer each time they send you an online advertisement to compile information about you or others who use your computer. This information allows ad networks to, among other things, deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you. GDPR

In May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into force in the European Union. Part of this new law requires Dendrite Clinical Systems to obtain your consent about holding your personal data (such as your name and email address). Dendrite will NOT pass on your details to a 3rd party. However, Dendrite may occasionally send you emails on behalf of 3rd parties (such as societies and associations and healthcare companies, eg IFSO, ASMBS, Medtronic, WL Gore etc) to help them promote their events, products and services.

Although most changes are likely to be minor, Bariatric News may change its Privacy Policy from time to time, and in Bariatric News’ sole discretion.
